2.17.22 – SASy Event

During the February 17^th, SASy Lunch we will work together on a special project for the Children’s Advocacy Center of Kent County.

The Center’s mission is to assess and support child victims of suspected sexual assault and educate children and the community to prevent such assaults.

More than 1,000 children suspected of being sexually abused are brought to the Center each year.

Children who are sexually abused are at significantly greater risk for experiencing posttraumatic stress and other anxiety symptoms, depression, and suicide attempts.

As a symbol of our care and encouragement, we will make Bravery Bracelets and Positivity Pebbles/Courage Rocks.

Bravery bracelets are simply braided or beaded bracelets that the children can wear on their person at any time. These bracelets are particularly helpful in court, as the child can hold on to his/her bracelet and know that the person who created it is thinking of them, believes them, and knows that they are brave.

Positivity pebbles/courage rocks are small stones for the children to hold on to when they need them the most. The stones can have words like Brave, Fierce, Warrior, etc. written on them. You can even draw a scene that reflects serenity, bravery, and courage.
