SUMMARY:Susan Shannon and Sheriff Larry Stelma
DESCRIPTION:Susan Shannon has spent thirty years in leadership positions in government and non-profits in Grand Rapids and Seattle.  She is currently the Executive Director of the Children’s Assessment Center which investigates and treats children who have been sexually abused. Prior to that she served as Economic Development Director for the cities of Grand Rapids and Seattle.  She has been a member of Rotary in both Grand Rapids and Seattle. \n  \nLawrence A. Stelma – Sheriff Stelma is the Kent County Sheriff\, where he is responsible for all law enforcement activities in the unincorporated area of Kent County\, the operation of the Kent County Correctional Facility\, security of the court houses and judges\, and prisoner transportation.  His responsibilities include investigating crimes against children\, as well as securing suspects in jail and through the judicial process. He has served within the Kent County Sheriff’s Office for over 44 years\, starting as a deputy and working through the ranks to Sheriff in 2000. He became a board member at the Children’s Assessment Center in 1999\, where he has served on the board at large and the finance committee and also provides on-site investigators at the Center. He has also served on multiple local\, state\, and national boards for various law enforcement initiatives\, the community\, and school and faith based organizations.

DESCRIPTION:Ken Krayer is the Executive Director of Design West Michigan. As a unique extension of Kendall College of Art and Design of Ferris State University\, Design West Michigan acts as an on-going catalyst for the region’s design network\, bringing in key design thinkers for public presentations and demonstrating the value of design through case studies\, business and design interactions. Ken comes from a rich background of design and design management as well as art and design education. In addition to his position at Design West Michigan\, he is also a faculty member at Kendall College of Art and Design in the Collaborative Design\, Industrial Design and MA in Design programs. He consults in the area of product design and strategy. He serves on the board of directors for Creative Many. Creative Many is a statewide organization that develops creative people\, creative places and the creative economy for a competitive Michigan through research\, advocacy\, professional practice and communications. \nHe has held positions as Chair of the Product Design Program at College for Creative Studies in Detroit\, Director of Design for Haworth in Holland\, Michigan\, Director of Design for Details\, a division of Steelcase in Grand Rapids\, Michigan. He was an exhibit designer for A + O Studio in San Francisco\, California\, and design intern at Studio Dumbar in Den Haag\, Netherlands. \nKen received his masters degree from Cranbrook Academy of Art in Design\, and his BS in Art Education from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. DESCRIPTION:Dan Gaydou is the President of the MLive Media Group\, Michigan’s largest multi-media news and marketing solutions company which produces MLive.com on the web as well as newspapers: The Grand Rapids Press\, The Flint Journal\, the Kalamazoo Gazette\, Jackson Citizen-Patriot\, Muskegon Chronicle\, Saginaw News\, The Bay City Times and the Advance Weeklies.  Prior to his current position\, Dan was President of Booth Newspapers and Publisher of the Grand Rapids Press. \nDan lives in Rockford and has served the community as Chairman of the Board for Spectrum Health\, the Right Place Economic Development Corporation\, the Gerald R. Ford Council of the Boy Scouts of America and the Michigan Colleges Foundation.  He most recently served as chairman of the board for the Public Museum of Grand Rapids.  He is a trustee of the Gerald R. Ford Foundation. \nMr. Gaydou is a graduate of the University of Michigan\, is a Certified Public Accountant and has been awarded honorary doctorate degrees from Baker College of Flint and Hope College.  He has been married to his wife\, Lou Ann for 43 years.  They have three children and seven grandchildren.

SUMMARY:Charles C. Stoddard
DESCRIPTION:Charles C. Stoddard was born in Lansing\, Michigan in 1945; Charles grew up in East Lansing. Following graduation from Cranbrook School in Bloomfield Hills\, he attended Michigan State University where he was president of the Senior Class. He graduated in 1967 with high honors majoring in Humanities. In 1969.he received an MBA degree from Harvard Business School. \nHe began his banking career at age sixteen as a teller in the summers with Michigan National Bank. He is a second generation banker as his father Howard founded Michigan National Bank in 1941. After graduate school\, Charles worked for Citibank in New York City for three years and an investment firm in Los Angeles for two years. Moving to Grand Rapids in 1973\, he spent fourteen years with Michigan National Bank\, including nine years as President of Michigan National -Central. In 1987\, he founded Grand Bank where he was CEO and Chairman. He retired in 2002 when Grand Bank merged with Macatawa Bank. \nCharles has been actively involved in the community. He served on numerous boards\, including the Rotary Club of Grand Rapids (President)\, Young President’s Organization (President)\, Blodgett Hospital\, Butterworth Hospital\, Grand Rapids Foundation\, Economic Club of Grand Rapids (founding member)\, Grand Rapids Service Corps\, Local Initiatives Support Corporation\, Gerald R. Ford Council of the Boy Scouts of America (President)\, Federal Home Loan Bank of Indianapolis\, Porter Hills Foundation and Forest Hills Fine Arts Foundation (Treasurer). \nIn 1985\, he and his wife along with four other couples started a private K through 12th grade school for children with learning disabilities called Lake Michigan Academy. He co-chaired a two million dollar capital campaign to purchase a building for LMA at 2428 Burton\, Grand Rapids. \nIn 2004\, Charles founded Grand Angels (www.grandangels.org) to make private equity investment.  Its mission is to invest in star t-up businesses in west Michigan as well as provide mentoring. \nHe has been active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served as the Bishop (similar to a pastor) of the Grand Rapids Ward\, and as Stake President (stake is similar to a diocese) of the Grand Rapids Stake presiding over thirteen congregations in west Michigan. He also served as a Mission President (2006-2009) presiding over the Santa Rosa California Mission. \nCharles and Jan have four children and six grandchildren: Stephen (married to Kim Huber and have three daughters\, and live in Heber\, Utah); Howard (married to Kimberly Anderson and have a daughter and live in Driggs\, Idaho); Deborah (married to Randy Wright and have two sons and live in Maui\, Hawaii) and Philip (lives in Augusta\, Michigan). \nCharles and Jan live in Hickory Corners (Gull Lake)\, Michigan and Park City\, Utah.  He enjoys travel\, tennis\, golf and collecting humorous stories (which resulted in eight volumes of “Grand Groaners”). He has written an autobiography called “Isn’t Life Grand?”

DESCRIPTION:Dana Friis-Hansen is Director and CEO of the Grand Rapids Art Museum\, taking the helm in July of 2011. \nPrior to joining GRAM\, he most recently served as the Executive Director of the Austin Museum of Art. \nFriis-Hansen is an accomplished curator\, writer\, and editor with dozens of exhibitions\, catalogues\, books\, articles\, and published papers to his credit. \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n \nRon Platt is Chief Curator at the Grand Rapids Art Museum\, where he plans and\norganizes the Museum’s program of changing exhibitions\, leads the presentation\nand growth of GRAM’s permanent collection\, and works with donors\, the art\ncommunity\, and the public to broaden GRAM’s audience and mission. \nRon’s specialty is modern and contemporary art\, and he has organized numerous\none-person and thematic group exhibitions\, artist’s residencies and\ncommissioned projects over the last twenty-five years. Prior to joining GRAM in\n2014\, Ron has held curatorial positions at the Birmingham Museum of Art\, the\nWeatherspoon Art Museum at the University of North Carolina\, and at MIT’s List\nVisual Arts Center. He received a BA in American Studies from University of\nMaryland and an MBA in Arts Administration from Lesley University in\nCambridge\, Massachusetts. Ron puts the G in LGBTQ! \nAmong the more than fifty exhibitions he has curated are Nature/Nurture:\nArtPrize Seven at GRAM\, Under the Skin: Tattoos and Contemporary Culture\,\nDawoud Bey: The Birmingham Project\, and one person shows by Dona Nelson\,\nLuca Buvoli\, and Tom Friedman. \n

SUMMARY:Jonathan White\, Ph.D.
DESCRIPTION:Dr. Jonathan White is professor of interdisciplinary studies in the Frederik Meijer Honors College at Grand Valley State University. He has also served as a consultant to the United States Department of Justice; the Federal Bureau of Investigation; the Department of Alcohol\, Tobacco and Firearms; the Department of State Anti-Terrorism Assistance Program; the Australian Federal Police\, and the Turkish National Police. Jon has worked with law enforcement agencies throughout the world in the fields of counterterrorism and religious violence\, and he taught classes on terrorism at the FBI Academy in Quantico\, Virginia. \nThe author of several dozen scholarly articles and papers\, Jon’s books include – Terrorism: A Theological Construct\, Terrorism: An Introduction\, Defending the Homeland\, Terrorism and Homeland Security\, and The Prussian Army: 1640-1871. He is ordained in the National Association of Congregational Christian Churches and served many part-time pastorates in West Michigan before retiring from the ministry in 2012. Jon began his professional career as a patrol officer in the Jackson Police Department and rose to the position of Assistant Administrator. He served in the training division of the Michigan State Police prior to joining the GVSU faculty in 1983. He is the founding director of GVSU’s School of Criminal Justice and was promoted to Dean of Social Sciences. He was inducted into the Michigan State University’s School of Criminal Justice “Wall of Fame” in 2007.

DESCRIPTION:Indian Trails is a remarkable facility that brings adaptive recreation to the lives of each camper. It is simple in theory\, but daunting in task. Indian Trails offers a barrier-free camp setting in which those with disabilities can participate in all manner of activities the outside world is ill-equipped to provide. It is a place filled with fun\, recreation and friendship. Campers learn perseverance\, team-work and self-reliance. They leave for home loaded with love\, respect and memories. \nThe history of the partnership between Indian Trails Camp and the Grand Rapids Rotary Club is one of energy\, commitment and loyalty. Since 1953 Rotarians have invested their time and money toward the success of the camp\, helping Indian Trails become a community and state treasure\, and one of only five camps in the nation serving the most disabled group with barrier-free camping facilities. \nIndian Trails Camp\, located six miles west of Grand Rapids\, has been providing camping experiences to individuals with disabilities since 1953. Campers return year after year to suspend personal obstacles long enough to enjoy those activities we all remember as part of a treasured camping experience – swimming\, canoeing\, archery\, music\, competitive sports\, challenge course\, dances\, and most of all\, the opportunity to make friendships and build relationships that affirm and encourage greater self-discovery. \nIndian Trails’ campers range in age from 5 to 70+ with such disabilities as: spina bifida; cerebral palsy; traumatic brain injury; congenital anomalies; down-syndrome; autism; multiple sclerosis; arthrogryposis and cognitive impairments.

DESCRIPTION:The Rotary Club of Grand Rapids and the Rotary Club of Grand Rapids Charities Foundation presents the 20th annual Rotary Open on Monday\, August 8\, 2016 at 12:00pm at Blythefield Country Club. A day of food\, fun and fellowship will support the charities of the Grand Rapids Rotary Club. \nAmong the philanthropic programs supported by Rotary\, this year’s event will assist STRIVE\, a mentoring program\, providing scholarships for high school seniors in Grand Rapids Public Schools; Indian Trails Camp\, which empowers individuals with disabilities by providing enrichment services for people of all abilities; Senior Neighbor Holiday Luncheon\, bringing joy and happiness to seniors during the Holiday season; and Boyden-Shearer Scholarships\, providing several college scholarships to Grand Rapids areas high school seniors. \nEighteen holes of golf\, lunch\, Après food reception\, with a carving station\, a cash bar\, along with silent and lives auctions will make for a fun filled day\, while supporting local organizations. DESCRIPTION:Roger Dubuc is the Federal Security Director (FSD) at the Gerald R. Ford International Airport (GRR) Hub and Spoke Group.  He was appointed to this position in September 2015.   In this role\, Mr. Dubuc oversees all Transportation Security Administration (TSA) security operations at the GRR Hub and 12 spoke airports located in Western and Northern Michigan and Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. \nMr. Dubuc joined TSA in August of 2002 as the Assistant FSD for Screening of the GRR hub and spoke group.  In 2004 he became the Assistant FSD for Inspections where he has served until his current assignment.   Prior to joining TSA he served for 21 years in the United States Coast Guard.  After graduation from Coast Guard Officer Candidate School in 1981\, he served in a variety of challenging operational sea and shore assignments.   This included command of Coast Guard Group Grand Haven\, Michigan from 1997 to 2001\, where he was responsible for directing search and rescue\, law enforcement\, and marine environmental protection operations for a geographical area extending from the Indiana/Illinois border to the north end of Lake Michigan. \nMr. Dubuc graduated with a Bachelor of Science from the Ohio State University in Columbus\, Ohio in 1980.  He also holds a Professional Emergency Manager certificate from the State of Michigan. \nMr. Dubuc is married to the former Nancy McKeon\, and they have two grown children.

In a given day\, I may interact with a seven-year-old who has never touched a golf club\, a highly-skilled teenager golfer\, and a high-level local executive who is interested in supporting our students. I want each of them to know that my staff and I want to get to know them better and help them in any way we can. \nBefore joining The First Tee of West Michigan\, I interned at another chapter of The First Tee in Chattanooga\, TN\, as well as two local non-profit ministries (Mel Trotter and The Other Way Ministries). \nI have an intense desire to help young people\, and believe golf is one of the most unique and powerful ways to make an impact. I have been at The First Tee of West Michigan since our inception on June 25\, 2011. That year\, we served 73 young people. Nearly five years later\, we serve over 630 young people\, with over 55% of them receiving scholarship to participate due to their income. \nIn my free time\, I am an assistant coach at Calvin College men’s golf team\, and serve on the City Focus Team at Crossroads Bible Church. My wife Cindy and I live on the west side of Grand Rapids\, near GVSU’s downtown campus. \n\n

SUMMARY:Peter Wallensteen
DESCRIPTION:Peter Wallensteen\, Senior Professor of Peace and Conflict Research\, Uppsala University (since 2012)\, first holder of the Dag Hammarskjold Chair\, Uppsala University (1985- 2012) and Richard G. Starmann\, Sr. Research Professor of Peace Studies at the Kroc Institute\, University of Notre Dame\, Indi­ana\, USA (since 2006). He was the first Head of the Department for Peace and Con­flict Research\, Uppsala Univer­ sity 1972-1999\, working on its creation\, financing\, research\, teaching and outreach programs. His Peace Research: Theory and Practice (Routledge\, 2011) spans his research interests and explains the rationale behind these activities. \nHe directs the Uppsala Con­ flict Data Program (UCDP) that publishes annual data on armed conflicts in three differ­ent categories\, for free\, at www.ucdp.uu.se.  His Understanding Conflict Resolution (Sage\, 4th edition\, April 2015) explains the program. This book is used worldwide. Wallensteen is pres­ently researching Nordic experi­ences in mediation\, the notion of quality peace\, the use of economic sanctions\, the role of regional organizations in peace­ making and the United Nations’ Security Council performance. He is a member of the Academic Advisory Council for the UN Mediation Support Unit and the Advisory Council for the newly created inter-governmental Eu­ropean Institute of Peace (EIP). \nA Rotarian since 1990\, he has published more than 200 schol­arly articles and book chapters\, and written/edited more than 40 books\, in the field of peace research. He has also been involved in the settlement of armed conflicts\, notably in Pap­ua New Guinea\, Israel-Palestine\, Nagorno-Karabakh\, Sudan and Cyprus.

DESCRIPTION:Amy is a Hope College graduate with a degree in Exercise Science.  She has been working in Corporate Wellness for over 25 years.  She co-founded OnSite Wellness in 2006\, and has helped the organization bring positive wellness solutions to well over 70 organizations over the last 10 years.  Amy and her business partner Mary have been finalists for the GRBJ Women Owned Business Award in 2013 and 2015\, and have also been finalists for the Grand Rapids Chamber EPIC Award for Women Owned business 2014 & 2015.  And recently received the award for 101 Best & Brightest in Wellness \nWhen away from the office Amy spends most of her free time in the bleachers supporting her 2 children who compete in athletics at the collegiate levels.  To combat the sitting she enjoys boot camp classes and walking.

DESCRIPTION:Patrick J. Cwayna has nearly 40 years experience as an educator in Michigan. He spent over 20 years as principal of East Grand Rapids High School\, which was recognized as an exemplary school by both the Michigan Department of Education and the U.S. Department of Education. He helped earn the same distinctions as principal of Brighton High School prior to his time at EGR. \nSince leaving his post at East Grand Rapids in 2007\, Pat took on the role as Chief Liaison for Presidential Affairs at Grand Rapids Community College\, where he then stepped into the position of Vice President for College Relations. \nJust prior to joining West Michigan Aviation Academy\, Pat served as leadership coach for the Kent Intermediate School District. Pat is passionate about education and excited to bring his experience and expertise to the revolutionary new aviation-focused high school\, West Michigan Aviation Academy.

Kjome received a bachelor’s degree from the Cleveland Institute of Music. \nPeter is Immediate Past Chair of the Group 2 orchestras\, League of American Orchestras and is a board member of the Economic Club of Grand Rapids and Blandford Nature Center. In 2011\, the League of American Orchestras presented Kjome with the Helen M. Thompson award for exceptional leadership in recognition of his work. \n  \n \nMarcelo Lehninger\, new Music Director of the Grand Rapids Symphony\, is in his first season with the orchestra in 2016-17. \nThe Brazilian-born conductor recently concluded his fourth and final season as Music Director of the New West Symphony Orchestra\, during which he was awarded the 2014 Helen M. Thompson Award for an Emerging Music Director by the League of American Orchestras. \nHandpicked by James Levine to join the conducting staff of the Boston Symphony Orchestra in 2010\, Lehninger spent five seasons there as Assistant Conductor and later as Associate Conductor. On three days’ notice in 2011\, he replaced Levine for performances that included the world premiere of a new violin concerto by Harrison Birtwistle in Boston. With Lehninger on the podium\, the BSO repeated the program weeks later in New York City’s Carnegie Hall. \nIn February 2015\, Lehninger first led the Grand Rapids Symphony in a critically acclaimed performance of Antonín Dvořák’s Symphony No. 9 “From the New World.” That season also included debuts with the Detroit and Milwaukee Symphonies and the Rochester Philharmonic plus return engagements with the Florida Orchestra and Chautauqua Symphony Orchestra. \nIn April 2016\, Lehninger returned to DeVos Performance Hall for performances of Ottorino Respighi’s “Pines of Rome.” Last season\, Lehninger made debuts with the symphonies of Pittsburgh\, North Carolina and Fort Worth in the United States; with the symphonies of Winnipeg and Kitchener-Waterloo in Canada; and with the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France plus return engagements with the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin and the Minas Gerais Philharmonic in Brazil. \nMaestro Lehninger’s 2016-17 season includes first appearances with the symphony orchestras of Sydney and Melbourne in Australia\, with the symphonies of Tucson and Portland in the United States\, and with Symphony Nova Scotia in Canada. \nAn alumnus of the National Conducting Institute\, Lehninger made a successful debut with the National Symphony Orchestra in 2007 at the Kennedy Center in Washington\, D.C.\, and was invited to conduct the NSO again in 2008. \nDuring the 2007-08 season\, Lehninger served as music advisor of the Youth Orchestra of the Americas\, composed of 120 musicians from more than 20 countries with Placido Domingo as artistic advisor. In the summer of 2008\, Maestro Lehninger toured with YOA and pianist Nelson Freire in South America\, conducting concerts in Argentina\, Brazil and Uruguay. \nChosen by Kurt Masur\, Lehninger in 2008 was awarded the First Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy Scholarship\, sponsored by the American Friends of the Mendelssohn Foundation. He was Maestro Masur’s assistant with the Orchestre National de France during its residency in Vienna as well as with the Gewandhaus Orchestra in Leipzig and with the New York Philharmonic. In 2011\, he participated in the Bruno Walter National Conductor Preview\, organized by the League of American Orchestras\, conducting the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra. \nAs a guest conductor in North America\, Lehninger has led the symphony orchestras of Chicago\, Houston\, Seattle and Toronto among others. In 2013\, Mr. Lehninger recorded the work of composer Christopher Culpo for Radio France in Paris\, conducting the Orchestre National de France. \nBefore dedicating his career to conducting\, Lehninger studied violin and piano. He holds a Master’s degree from the Conductors Institute at New York’s Bard College. \nA dual citizen of Brazil and Germany\, Marcelo Lehninger is the son of German violinist Erich Lehninger and Brazilian pianist Sônia Goulart. \nLehninger\, his wife\, Laura Krech\, and their daughters Sofia and Camila\, plan to move to Grand Rapids in 2017.

DESCRIPTION:Sean began his banking career in 1986 with American National Bank & Trust Company of Chicago after graduating from Michigan State University.  After completing his credit training\, he managed a large portfolio of loans to middle market companies located throughout the Midwest.  In 1991 he joined National City’s predecessor bank\, First of America.  Welsh held several line and management positions with First of America including Vice President & Group Manager; Corporate Banking and Vice President & Group Manager- Investment Real Estate.  In addition\, as Vice President of Corporate Finance\, he was responsible for delivering First of America’s Corporate Finance capabilities to the Michigan\, Illinois and Indiana markets. \nSean currently serves as Regional President for the Western Michigan Market.  Previously he served as Senior Vice President and Division Manager for National City’s Corporate Banking group in Chicago and Northern Illinois.  Sean relocated to Chicago from Kalamazoo in 1998 to establish National City’s Corporate Banking line of business in Chicago. \nSean currently serves on the Boards of The Right Place\, Spectrum Health\, Southwest Michigan First\, YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids\, Talent 2025 and Economic Club of Grand Rapids.  He is married and has three daughters.

DESCRIPTION:Colonel Mark E. Tellier began his military career when he enlisted into the Michigan Army National Guard on 25 May 1988 as Private.  Col Tellier graduated from the Federal Officer Candidate School program at Fort Benning\, Georgia and commissioned on 16 August 1991 as a Second Lieutenant in the Infantry branch. \nHis assignments include positions of increasing responsibility at Platoon\, Company\, Battalion and Brigade command and staff levels\, to include aide-de-camp to the Assistant Division Commander for the 38th Infantry Division\, Indiana.  Multiple non-traditional assignments in support of operations\, logistics\, and personnel functional areas.  In 2012\, Col Tellier served a one year tour in Afghanistan as the 126th Cavalry Squadron Commander\, Wyoming\, MI in support of Afghan National Security Forces and Special Operations Command. \nCol Tellier’s current assignment is Director of Information Management\, Michigan Army National Guard overseeing information technology requirements in order to acquire and distribute network resources\, provide policy\, governance\, IT services\, security and enable trained and ready units supporting Federal and State Missions.  Additionally\, develop premier leaders in cyber operations delivering innovative technology solutions that protect and defend our nation. \nHis military decorations include the Bronze Star\, Meritorious Service Medal\, Army Commendation Medal\, Army Achievement Medal\, Michigan Legion of Merit and the National Defense Service Medal\, Army Reserve Component Medal\, Global War on Terrorism –Expeditionary Medal\, Afghanistan Campaign Medal\, Combat Infantry Badge and numerous State awards. He is enrolled into the United States Army War College and has a Bachelor’s degree in Social Science from Michigan State University. \nCol Tellier lives in Ada\, MI with his wife Andrea (nei Sherrill) and three children Adam (15)\, Katherine (14) and Joshua (11).

(Lynn) 45 years ago\, they live on the eastern shores of Lake Michigan\, and have two adult children.  Son Jurgen\, is an Emergency Room Doctor with Mercy Health Partners in Muskegon\, MI.  Daughter Kirsten is business owner of an architectural  firm\,  Architektura in Grand Haven MI.  Wife Anne is a former K – 8 classroom teacher and high school Guidance counselor of 43 years with Grand Haven Area Public Schools. \nGernot\, an architect and graduate from the Architecture School\, HTL Detmold Germany\, has been practicing architecture for the past 48 years.  His work experiences encompass several architectural firms in western Michigan.  With his unique European education and great depth of skills in many areas of design\, working drawings\, construction administration and management\, he has worked on many large and medium size projects throughout Michigan. \nGernot has been a Boy Scout leader of Troop 165\, the Gerald R. Ford Boy Scout District\, for over 12 years.  There he served in various capacities in the troop and District level.   As troop leader he planned and guided high adventure trips thru-out the USA\, the highlight being\, a troop adventure with 12 Boys and one adult leader to climb and repel the Grand Teton Peak in the Grand Teton Mountain Range\, of Utah. \nFaith has been a big part of Gernot’s live.  He and his wife Anne have been a member of St Francis De Sales Church in Muskegon\, MI for the past 45 years.  He served on many committees and boards and has been instrumental in the planning and implementation of many brick and mortar projects\, including working with the world renowned architects office of Marcel Breuer in New York. \n26 Years ago\, Gernot was ask to join a group of likeminded professionals\, called Rotarians.  He joined the Rotary Club of Grand Haven and has served in a number of different capacities\, among them are Club President\, Program Chair\, Youth Exchange Officer\, and Scholarship Committee Chair.  He has been an active in fundraising to support local and international serviced projects.  Gernot is a member of the District Foundation Committee\, the District Grants Review Board and has served for the past 12 years as the District Peace Fellowship Chair. As such\, has been able to qualify 3 Peace Fellows and one Peace Scholar.  Prior to that\, Gernot served on the District selection and interview committee\, for Ambassadorial Scholarships
