Club News provided by Roger Morgenstern

First photo: It was Interact today! We were pleased to hear the great things these 4 students from City High are doing to improve our community: From left, Adam Kuzee, CeCe Coleman, Jordan Orr and Emma Gauriiuc

Second photo: We were pleased to welcome the newest Rotarian in the world, Brian Hauenstein (Dawn I forgot to grab his bio off the table if you could add a line of his line of work thanks!)

Third photo: Our speaker this week, Michelle Van Dyke, president and CEO of the Heart of West Michigan United Way, provided sobering statistics about homelessness and other economic challenges we face in Kent County.

Consider this:

  • 1 in 5 African American children in Kent County ages 0-4 is homeless or on the verge of homelessness.
  • The so-called ALICE group, people who are Asset Limited, Income Constrained and Employed, comprise 37 percent of the Kent County population.

The Heart of West Michigan United Way is working hard to address these and other issues confronting our Kent County community. Learn more at https://www.hwmuw.org
