President Chelsea thanked the 11 Rotarians who showed up at Sibley Elementary School recently to read the book Pete the Cat. The book was read to students in all the classrooms and, with the help of Scholastic and Rotary International, each of the students went home with a copy of the book!
The Club heard from Mitch Miller, CEO of Carbon Green BioEnergy about the successful business he has built in West Michigan to serve the growing bio-fuel business. His bio is available here .
- Miller’s company bought a bio-fuel processing plant out of bankruptcy in 2010, making $22 million in capital investments.
- It has gone from 40-million-gallon annual capacity to now more than 56 million gallons and provides Ethanol, corn oil, distillers grain and racing fuel.
- The company sells both Ethanol to gasoline companies to be blended with gas but also sells 5.4 million gallons of E-85 through its Yellow Hose brand directly to stations across the state. Mitch thanked Rotarian Matt Tiedgen and his company, LEAD Marketing, saying “he’s helped brand the fuel.”
