11.05.16 – Habitat Veterans Build
On November 5th, a group of 13 volunteers from the Rotary Club of Grand Rapids helped install siding for the Habitat Kent house build at 210 Gold NW in the John Ball Area Neighborhood of Grand Rapids. This was day one of three total volunteer days our Club is working on this home through spring 2017. Jonathan and Lindsay Droski, the Habitat Kent home buyers of this home, are working diligently alongside hundreds of volunteers over the next year, including our Rotary club, to build a safe, healthy and affordable home for their two young children to grow up in.
Our Club and the Rotary Club of Grand Rapids Charities Foundation provided a generous $5,000 sponsorship, as well, to leverage a $150K community investment goal to effectively fund and build this house. This home is one of 13 Habitat Kent homes being built on the west side over the next year for individuals and families in need of affordable home ownership opportunities in Grand Rapids.
The above notes were provided by Rotarian Jon Hankins, Corporate Relations Specialist, Habitat for Humanity of Kent County.
